REAL ESTATE – ALL IN THE FAMILY

Real Estate Pioneer –  Sam J. Piazza

In 1973, Realtor® Sam J. Piazza brought the first computerized MLS home search system (Realtron) to Western NY. At that time, Realtors® had the tedious process of having to manually file and search new weekly multiple listing cards. As soon as the new cards were filed, they were already outdated as new listings had come in to the MLS system. Thanks to this real estate pioneer, the MLS is computerized as we now know it in Western & Central NY and Realtors can now search a centralized computer for their clients instead of using an outdated manual filing system. Sam Piazza was also responsible for bringing one of the first Century 21 franchises to all of New York State & Rochester in the mid 1970’s. Sam also was on the committee which brought private mortgage insurance (PMI) to New York State. PMI allows buyers to buy a home with a small down payment instead of the traditional 20% down. Sam was in the real estate business for over 50 years and recently passed away in Florida in 2014 and will be greatly missed. R.I P Dad.

Now in 2024, Robert Piazza, a 2nd generation Realtor with 41 yrs. experience, and Northern Star Realty continue that tradition with a cutting edge trend offering flat fee MLS for those homeowners that want to save approximately half of the commissions that full service brokers charge or more. The system is simple but very high tech, so you can use the same MLS the local Realtors use to get your house sold. In today’s challenging economy, we felt there is a need for another viable option (Flat Fee MLS) for those home sellers who need or want to save a huge amount of money by using a system that combines the MLS and “For Sale By Owner” with Realtor® support.
